Big Sandy PK-12 School, in the rural town of Simla, CO, is segmented into three academic wings for elementary, middle, and high school with the fourth wing bringing all grade levels together through athletics, CTE classrooms, and the school cafeteria. Special laboratory facilities were a focus in the school building which include; chemistry classrooms, lab prep rooms, chemical storage, and fume hoods.

The 33 acre site development included practice fields, a track, play areas, car and bus parking, and off-site road and utility work. The school is LEED® Gold Certified, featuring a geothermal heating and cooling system, maximized day-lighting through building orientation, energy efficient equipment, light fixtures and exterior construction.

After the new PK-12 school was built, Nunn Construction demolished the existing school.
