Nunn Celebrates Record Volume of PK-12 Projects Completed this Summer

It was a busy summer for Nunn Construction! We completed seven PK-12 education projects for districts across southern Colorado and started an additional four projects that will be under construction through 2019. The projects we completed this summer include an array of different construction types: new construction on undeveloped land, two additions on tight and occupied construction sites, and four fast-track summer remodel projects.

Academy District 20 opened the doors to Legacy Peak Elementary School and the Center for Modern Learning in the Wolf Ranch neighborhood in northeast Colorado Springs on August 14th. The design-build team of Nunn Construction and Hord Coplan Macht had just 17 months from project award to the first day of school to complete the 97,000 sq.ft. ground-up facility which had no roads leading to the site when we started construction! This project was a massive undertaking and one of our most successful accomplishments of the year.

The Classical Academy Charter School added on a 44,000 sq.ft. addition to their PK-12 north campus which opened for students and the community on August 11th. The project includes a 635 seat auditorium, black box theater, ancillary gymnasium with connected elementary cafeteria, as well as a new entry and commons area. Working alongside our design-build partner, LKA Partners, the addition created a state-of-the-art fine arts facility for the charter school in Colorado Springs.

In Castle Rock, CO, Nunn completed a 23,000 sq.ft. middle school addition to World Compass Academy Charter School. This design-build project with RTA Architects was completed within budget and on time, opening for the students and community on September 4th.

Additionally, Nunn Construction completed four renovation projects this summer: Sand Creek High School in School District 49, partial upgrades to Custer County PK-12 School with another phase that will begin in the summer of 2019, Timberview Middle School in Academy District 20 and a library remodel to Air Academy High School also in Academy District 20.

With all of those projects under our belt, we are looking to the future while bringing the knowledge gained, relationships built and lessons learned with us on the four PK-12 education projects we currently have under construction. This summer, we broke ground on two brand new, ground-up elementary schools for Widefield School District 3 and School District 49. We are also working with Academy District 20 on two high school addition and renovation projects for Liberty High School and Air Academy High School.

We thank all of our valued partners and collaborators who have made this summer such a success at Nunn Construction! Stay tuned to our website, facebook, Twitter and linkedIn pages for additional updates on our current and future projects.
