The BEST Grant funded replacement of Franklin School of Innovation presented Nunn with unique challenges, being built next to the occupied existing school and requiring an early selective abatement and small demolition scope to make room for where the new footprint overlapped the existing building. Franklin School of Innovation was originally built in 1953, and it’s replacement building modernized the learning environment adding collaboration areas, garage doors for flexible learning areas, as well as a large new learning commons and media center. The Nunn team helped the District and Architects in preconstruction evaluate 1-story vs. 2-story options and multiple schedule options to maximize their BEST Grant funds, fit within the existing neighborhood and not disrupt the school schedule.

  • BEST Grant Funded Replacement
  • Built Next to Occupied School
  • Early Abatement & Select Demolition Coordination
“Both projects were partially funded by the Colorado BEST program, this added an additional layer of oversight from the State and required documentation. Nunn’s team was instrumental in helping the district work through the process and delivered a finished product that will serve the students and community of Pueblo for years into the future. Nunn is a very honest, straight forward business that stands behind their workmanship. They were willing to work with district to solve any issues that came up during the process of design or construction. Our Community is excited to have the two new finished schools that were delivered on time and within budget scope as approved by district even in these challenging inflationary times.”
