Topping Out Ceremony at Southwest Memorial Hospital

Cortez, CO – On Tuesday, June 20th Nunn Construction orchestrated a ceremonial “Topping-Out” celebration for the medical office building at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez, CO. In construction, topping-out is traditionally held when the last beam is placed atop a structure.  Prior to raising the beam, hospital board members, doctors, and our construction crew signed the beam, putting our stamp on the new building that will provide much needed healthcare specialty space to the community of Cortez. The ceremony signified the completion of the metal framework for the new medical office building.

Nunn broke ground on the MOB last summer which is part of a $32 million expansion of the hospital, scheduled for completion in 2018. The new 25,000 SF MOB will house up to 30 medical providers and specialists including; family medicine, orthopedics, podiatry, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and general surgery. The building will also include a retail pharmacy, X-ray capabilities and a vaccination clinic attached to the main hospital campus for ease of access to additional services.

Read more about the ceremony and watch a video of the ceremony in the Cortez Journal.
