Haxtun K-12 addition and remodel was a fast-track design-build project. Haxtun School District is comprised of two separate schools, an Elementary and a High school in one combined facility. Nunn Construction renovated the existing elementary school and added a six classroom, 8,050 SF middle school addition. Additionally, a new fire suppression system throughout the entire facility and an addition for the school’s existing kitchen were included in the scope of work.

Existing mechanical, plumbing, electrical and technology systems were modernized to meet the needs of a 21st century learning environment. The majority of the renovation was constructed in the summer of 2014 while the students were on break, with the middle school addition completed in the fall of 2014.

The project was funded through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) program. Construction operations were carefully segregated and coordinated with school activities to maintain a safe environment for the kids that did not compromise their learning.

“The staff at Nunn Construction were wonderful to work with and they are one of the main reasons our project went so smoothly. Always willing to follow up on questions or concerns, the Nunn Team made it possible to get what we wanted, even when our plans changed along the way. ”
