Constructing Opportunities for Colorado Students

This summer, Nunn Construction will put the final touches on several school projects throughout Colorado, providing students with new facilities that will promote learning and growth for decades to come!

Nunn is currently contracted to build eight school projects this summer – a record volume of PK-12 work to be completed in 2019! With this work load on the horizon, we are in the process of hiring 23 laborers to assist in the demolition and reconstruction of these facilities. We encourage young people to pursue positions in the construction field because they receive invaluable satisfaction and accomplishment when they contribute to their community. Nunn takes pride in being involved with organizations such as Careers in Construction – in collaboration with Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs and AGC Colorado, to employ local youth for our summer projects.

Nunn’s overarching goal with the school projects we build is to create state-of-the-art learning environments for students and faculty. Whether through new construction or renovations of existing buildings, we create these environments by focusing on quality construction and Owner satisfaction while incorporating educational opportunities for students interested in the construction field.

Phil LaSarre, Vice President and Operations Manager at Nunn Construction, is on the Board for Careers in Construction Colorado (CICC) and is the Chair of the High School Student Job Placement Committee. He recently attended a student job fair with CICC to promote student opportunities and how beneficial it is to have students involved in the construction of their own schools. Additionally, we hired several students from this job fair to assist on our summer projects!

We are currently constructing a Career and Technical Education (CTE)  addition at Liberty High School in Academy District 20, slated for completion this fall. Our construction team and design partner presented to the Liberty HS students recently, describing the entire process from procurement to completion of construction. The overall goal was to broaden the students’ knowledge about the multi-faceted opportunities available within the construction industry.

As a building leader in Colorado, we truly believe investing in the next generation is crucial to the future of our industry. We recognize that today’s students make tomorrow’s decision-makers and we are thrilled to support their endeavors to better themselves and better our communities.
