CORE Electric Cooperative (Formerly Intermountain Rural Electric Association – IREA) in expanding their services in the rural Colorado area, determined that they needed a new district office to help them anchor services and grow for the next 40 years. Office spaces include state-of-the-art facilities for their lineman crews to store their belongings and work clothes along with work spaces, shower and cleaning facilities for them to use after coming back from their field.
The site is nearly 14.2 acres with a shared storm water regional detention facility. Other features of the building include a combined shop, warehouse, with truck wash bays and heated storage. Ancillary equipment storage and a covered yard storage along with extensive paving allow for material storage and space to manipulate their large trucks in and out of the facility. Dispatch and CORE offices along with conference and meeting room space and a design that includes clerestory windows and tall open ceilings and floor plans which give a bright, airy feel to the offices.
This new facility also provides CORE customers an easy way to come and pay their electrical bills with a drive lane, along with cutting edge electric vehicle charging ports for the general public’s use.
