Nunn Construction partnered with Mount San Rafael Hospital to renovate Suite C of their Medical Office Building, a single-story walk-in clinic originally built in 2004. The project encompassed 2,465 square feet, including the transformation of 735 square feet of previously vacant space into three new exam rooms, one exam/treatment room, and two offices. The remainder of the suite received upgraded finishes to modernize and enhance the clinical environment.
Working within an active healthcare facility, Nunn carefully coordinated construction activities to avoid disruptions to patient care and daily operations. This included thoughtful staging in parking areas and close collaboration with hospital staff. Strict safety and regulatory measures were followed, including Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRAs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and approvals from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the City of Trinidad, and the local fire department.
Despite a few challenges—such as needing to coordinate with Owner provided FF&E vendors and the discovery of possible mold—Nunn responded quickly and efficiently, keeping the project on schedule and within budget. The team’s proactive approach ensured that the mold issue was remediated without delay, and the construction timeline was maintained, even amid rescheduling and delayed furniture deliveries.
The renovated space has proven to be exactly what the hospital needed. It is now fully operational, functioning seamlessly for both staff and patients, and stands as a testament to the value of careful planning, responsive communication, and experienced construction management.
