Overtime, the services offered to the senior population in Dolores County had outgrown their previous facilities causing demand for an expanded facility. The new one-story building includes offices that support staff and house administrative functions, a community meeting room which doubles as a dining room, commercial kitchen, library and reading room, game room, exercise room and a classroom.

The community meeting room easily adapts to different daily activities and features tall ceilings with acoustical ceiling tiles and ample daylighting. The building is 100% ADA compliant and is designed with comfort and access in mind, encouraging participation among the seniors in the community.

The Pioneer Center was built simultaneously with the Public Service Center and Shop, under the same contract, in the rural southwest town of Dove Creek, CO.
