Identified as “The Gateway” to the UCCS Campus, the new five story facility provides the University with a highly efficient, LEED Certified Gold office building which houses multiple administration departments for the college. The Academic Office Building was the first project on the UCCS campus to be delivered under the Design-Build delivery method where Nunn worked directly alongside the architect and owner through all phases of design and construction. This collaborative process helped meet the aggressive energy reduction goals of the project, resulting in a higher-performing building.

The building was constructed on a very tight site adjacent to the main entry to campus and a major thoroughfare to the south. All construction activities and deliveries were carefully coordinated with the University. Nunn Construction paid particular attention to laydown areas, off-site subcontractor parking, and student and faculty safety during construction.

  • LEED© Certified Gold
  • “The Gateway” to the fastest growing University in the region
  • 1.6 Acre Site with Major Thoroughfare to the South
  • Clerestory Windows and Lightshelves Bring Daylight into 75% of the Office Spaces
  • Water Savings of 40% Over the LEED© Baseline
“The close and effective collaboration between Nunn and HCM allowed construction to move forward early in the design phases. This close collaboration also brought the Nunn Construction Team much closer to the design process, hence their understanding of design intent was much higher than typical.”
Gary Reynolds Executive Director - UCCS
